Sufood 舒果: Infinite Breadsticks and Tasty Veggies
Tasty is a popular restaurant all over Taiwan due to its dearth of food and nice presentation. If you enjoy Tasty, but don’t want all the meat, then Sufood 舒果 is for you. It’s basically a vegetarian clone of Tasty, and it’s even owned by the same company! Sufood has some diverse menu options that I haven’t seen at any other vegetarian restaurants. Check out more info after the jump.Sufood follows the same format as Tasty. Only sets are offered (about $400 NT), though you can be specific on what type of soup, entree, salad, and dessert you want. One thing that you may notice are the infinite bread sticks. I unfortunately didn’t get a good picture, but imagine a long, skinny piece of bread standing boldly inside a glass cup. You can have as many of these as you want, and it can be difficult not to fill up on them before your entree comes around.
Most of the entrees are Italian-inspired. One of their signature dishes is a massive calzone filled with cheese, mushrooms, and broccoli. There are also pasta and pizza options. I didn’t have the pizza, but I did see it another table and the presentation was fantastic. It looked like a giant star.
Though Tasty has a rather dark interior, Sufood is very bright and splattered with pink. It is the yang to Tasty’s yin. There are a lot of similarities. I believe the outfits are very similar to the ones at Tasty, and you get your change in an envelope that I’m never quite sure what to do with.
Sufood has some creative offerings, and even the more bland sounding options are given a unique twist. Like Tasty, you will probably walk out of the restaurant very slowly after eating so much food! Enjoy some pictures.
