Fantasy Ice World 台北冰雪世界: Frozen in Spring

Ever wish it was -4 C/25 F at the dawn of spring?  The Taipei exhibit Fantasy Ice World 台北冰雪世界 will help you live those dreams.  Several sculptures imported from Harbin, China, are making their temporary home in a freezing warehouse in Taipei’s technology center.  Look over the scene from the icy Great Wall, stroll through a frozen pyramid, or have a rest in an all-ice cafe after the jump.

Harbin, China is well-known for its ice sculpture festival.  It doesn’t get too cold in Taipei, so snow and ice are foreign entities.  I feel that this past winter has been pretty rough, so the idea of going somewhere colder isn’t exactly appealing.  I think this type of exhibit would be amazing during the humid Taiwanese summers.  Nevertheless, there’s a lot to see and plenty of photo ops, as long as your fingers don’t freeze.  You can rent a coat or buy mittens, but I recommend bringing your own things.  Especially gloves, don’t forget the gloves!  Here are some pictures from my visit.

There are two slides: one where you ride down on an inflatable tube and a more traditional slide. The tube looks more fun, but its limited.

I think this is supposed to be the Leaning Tower of Pisa, but it wasn't leaning!

Tickets are 380NT.  Pretty pricy considering other exhibits in Taipei are much cheaper, but there’s not denying the uniqueness of this one.
